Available Rivers
We offer a variety of different trips on four local rivers. Each river is extremely beautiful and provides it’s own unique experience. The rivers we offer trips for are the Illinois, the Klamath, the Rogue, and the Smith. All rivers have a minimum age of 5, besides the Illinois which has a minimum of 13.
ILLINOIS
The Illinois, called the “Illie” in rafting slang, is known for its blue-green waters and remote rafting runs. We offer a tour of the section of the river in between Eight Dollar Mountain and a little pass Selma, Oregon. This tour is our most rapid intensive, with about five different class three rapids in relatively quick succession at one point in the tour. There are also lots of class two rapids and tons of action. This means it is our most exciting run, and because of this the minimum age for participants is 13. Exceptions could be made for more experienced kids, call Travis to discuss this directly. We typically book this river from March 1st until July 1st.
ROGUE
The Rogue River is the most famous of the rivers we offer tours for. Flowing through Grants Pass, Oregon, the Rogue is relatively mellow compared to the Klamath and the Illinois. The tour we offer flows through Hells Gate Canyon, a beautiful canyon outside of Merlin, Oregon. There are a lot of class 2 rapids and one class 3 rapid on this tour. This tour is good for people who like seeing other people on their trips, as well as people who like having a mellow trip in an extremely well known area. This trip is open for booking all year round, but a special request must be made directly to Travis.
KLAMATH
The Klamath is second biggest river that we tours on. Running through the remote town of Happy Camp, California, the Klamath is a great spot for seeing animals and having a fun float. Common sights on this river are Bald Eagles, Herons, Bears, and Otters. This is our “intermediate trip”, with 2 class 3 rapids and a bunch of class 2s. There is also a whirlpool that the guides will stop by halfway through so that guests can enjoy spinning around in the river. This tour is open for booking all summer, and is a good trip for anyone who wants to experience a lot of what rafting has to offer.
SMITH
Called the “Avenue of the Waterfalls”, the Smith river is the cleanest river in the country excluding Alaska. Flowing through a canyon in between Obrien, Oregon and Crescent City, California, the Smith glows with a light blue colour due to it’s extremely clean water. We offer a tour that puts in up river from Hiuchi, California and takes out right downriver from the town. Guests float through Stout Grove, one of the most famous redwood groves in the country. There is also a rope swing and jumping rocks. The tour is very calm, with only a few class two rapids. The main appeal are the scenic nature views and ocean breezes. This tour is great for beginners and people who want a chill beautiful trip. We book for this river from March 1st until July 1st.
